Launching the AFROSAI Digital Platform: New Horizons for Digitalizing Oversight Work in Africa
In a world where information and communication technology plays a fundamental role in the provision of public services in daily life, digital development has become a key driver of innovation and contributes significantly to enhancing efficiency, communication, and productivity. Undoubtedly, digital services technology is no longer just a supporting tool, but rather a strategic element that enables these institutions to compete and grow in an era heavily reliant on data, connectivity, and the provision of digital services to public sector employees, particularly in the field of oversight work and the application of the good governance system, due to its seamless nature, ease of use, and their ability to move beyond the complexities of traditional routine procedures followed within government institutions.
In light of accelerating technological competition, the launch of this electronic platform represents more than just a technical update, it represents the culmination of an ambitious strategic vision adopted during the 16th General Assembly held in Tripoli in 2024. This strategy aims to place our organization at the heart of digital transformation, thereby enhancing its ability to bridge the scientific and practical legacy of oversight work with technological future, in order to support the cooperation among the member Supreme Audit Institutions of AFROSAI, and expanding horizons for cooperation and the exchange of expertise among them.
Furthermore, the inauguration of this AFROSAI’s new website represents a qualitative leap in the way we communicate and collaborate. It is no longer merely an interface for presenting information, rather, it has evolved into a dynamic interactive space that enhances effectiveness and contributes to building strategic partnerships, and disseminates best practices, guiding manuals, comparative studies, and innovative reports issued by our member SAIs. This will undoubtedly enrich the oversight work in every country and maximize the benefit from the experiences of others.
Undoubtedly, the launch of this digital platform comes at a time when the African continent faces significant challenges driven by the rapid pace of the digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence era, the phenomenon of climate change, food security, and the repercussions of global economic crises. Consequently, the role of Supreme Audit Institutions remains pivotal in ensuring the optimal use of public resources, implementing the good governance system, combating corruption, enhancing accountability and to strengthen trust between African societies and their governments.
As President of the AFROSAI organization, we are confident that this new website will be a powerful tool enabling us to fulfill this role to the fullest. It represents a true investment that will shape the future of financial oversight across AFROSAI, while serving as a vital contribution toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for our African continent.
