Organization of the webinar on "The role of Supreme Audit Institutions in the implementation of the African Union’s Agenda 2063" 23-06-2026

As part of the implementation of its Action Plan, and more specifically the strategic priority concerning the “Role of Supreme Audit Institutions in the Implementation of the African Union’s Agenda 2063,” the AFROSAI General Secretariat organized a webinar entitled “The Role of SAIs in a Successful Implementation of AU Agenda 2063” on 23 June 2026.

The webinar was structured around several thematic sessions aimed at presenting the challenges and objectives of Agenda 2063 and highlighting the role of Supreme Audit Institutions in its implementation and monitoring. It brought together more than 100 participants representing AFROSAI member SAIs, as well as representatives of the African Union Commission, partner organizations, and other stakeholders.

The opening session emphasized the importance of the contribution of SAIs to achieving the continent’s development objectives.

The first session was devoted to a general presentation of Agenda 2063, its strategic orientations, and the expectations of the African Union regarding SAIs. This segment was enriched by interactive discussions that enabled participants to share their views and clarify various aspects related to the implementation of this continental agenda.

A second session focused on the experience of the Kingdom of Morocco in implementing Agenda 2063. The presentations highlighted the national planning, monitoring, and evaluation mechanisms adopted to ensure the alignment of public policies with the Agenda’s objectives.

The program then continued with a session dedicated to the role of SAIs in supporting and monitoring the implementation of Agenda 2063. Through presentations delivered by the SAIs of Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, and Tanzania, participants learned about different approaches, experiences, and good practices. This session also included a component on the partnership between the African Union and AFROSAI, as well as the expected contributions of SAIs to the monitoring and evaluation of the Agenda’s objectives.

Another session was dedicated to presenting the actions undertaken by AFROSAI to support its members in the effective implementation of Agenda 2063. Finally, the webinar concluded with a capacity-building session focusing on the skills, methodologies, and tools required to conduct high-quality audits related to the implementation of this continental development agenda.
