A Leading African Organization Committed to Sound Financial Governance Advocating for Strong, Independent and Credible Supreme Audit Institutions
The African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI) has adopted an ambitious Strategic Plan for 2022–2027, aimed at bolstering its unifying role and empowering its members in bolstering financial governance across the continent. This scope of action hinges on a results-oriented management approach and is structured around three major strategic priorities, complemented by one essential cross-cutting priority.
Strategic Priority 1: Providing Regional Responses to Common Challenges Faced by SAIs
AFROSAI seeks to adapt global public finance management imperatives to the African context. This priority focuses on strengthening the independence of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), promoting their professionalization, assessing the implementation of the agendas of the United Nations and African Union’s 2063 Agenda, combating illicit financial flows and integrating gender equality into audit practices.
Strategic Priority 2: Enhancing the Organizational Performance of Member SAIs
This priority aims to uphold the values of transparency, accountability and integrity within African SAIs. AFROSAI encourages the adoption of modern performance management tools, and it builds leadership and strategic change management capacities. It also promotes internal governance best practices.
Strategic Priority 3: Serving as a Model of Good Governance
AFROSAI is steadfast in its commitment to bolstering its own transparency and visibility as an umbrella organization. This entails tailoring its structure to meet members’ needs, optimizing resource mobilization, fostering deeper cooperation with regional and international partners and developing visibility tools.
Cross-Cutting Priority: Facilitating Experience Sharing
This dimension underpins all strategic priorities by fostering cooperation among sub-regional organizations, developing peer support mechanisms and fully leveraging the opportunities offered by INTOSAI and its structures.
