Creation of AFROSAI-A: A New Sub-Regional Organization for SAIs of African Arab-Speaking Countries

AFROSAI announces the establishment of the Sub-Regional Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of African Arab-speaking countries (AFROSAI-A), following its constitutive meeting held on 2 September 2026 and hosted by the SAI of Egypt.

The meeting brought together Heads of African Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), numerous ambassadors and members of diplomatic missions of the Member States, as well as representatives of regional and international organizations and the Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Economic Unity.

Chaired by the SAI of Egypt, AFROSAI-A aims to provide SAIs of African Arab-speaking countries with a structured sub-regional framework for consultation, the exchange of experiences and professional cooperation, in coordination with the existing cooperation mechanisms within the AFROSAI community.

With its establishment, AFROSAI now comprises three sub-regional groups:

• AFROSAI-A for African Arab-speaking countries;
• AFROSAI-E for African English-speaking countries;
• CREFIAF for African French-speaking countries.

The establishment of AFROSAI-A thus represents a further step towards strengthening cooperation among African SAIs and promoting the sharing of experiences and good practices in the field of public finance oversight across the continent.
