AFROSAI carries Africa’s voice at the INTOSAI annual meetings with its partners – Participation of the General Secretariat of AFROSAI in the INTOSAI annual meetings with its partners

Descriptif

From 21 to 25 September 2026, the General Secretariat of AFROSAI took part, at the headquarters of the World Bank Group in Washington D.C., in the annual meetings of the INTOSAI Regions Coordination Platform (IRCP), of the Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Accountancy and Improve Collaboration (MOSAIC) and of the INTOSAI–Donor Cooperation (IDC), as well as in the proceedings of the INTOSAI Policy, Finance and Administration Committee (PFAC).

It presented there the orientations of the Organisation’s 2022-2027 Strategic Plan, together with its priorities and its challenges for the years ahead. The discussions addressed the strengthening of coordination between AFROSAI and its three sub-regional organisations – AFROSAI-A, AFROSAI-E and CREFIAF –, the consolidation of the technical commissions and the development of a strategic partnership with the African Union.

At the MOSAIC Forum and Steering Committee, AFROSAI set out its priorities and took part in the discussions devoted to strengthening cooperation between SAIs and professional accountancy organisations.

Invited to the strategic dialogue of the Steering Committee of the INTOSAI–Donor Cooperation, devoted to the follow-up to the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), AFROSAI recalled the significance of the Sevilla Commitment, which calls for SAIs that are “strengthened, resourced, independent and professional”. It stressed that the challenge for the African continent now lies in the effective implementation of the commitments made, and reaffirmed its willingness to contribute to their uptake within the mechanisms and initiatives of the African Union.

These meetings also enabled AFROSAI to present to its partners two coordinated audit programmes, covering respectively public debt and the implementation of the African Union’s Agenda 2063. These initiatives reflect its determination to strengthen cooperation among African SAIs and to provide, through joint audit work, independent assurance on matters of strategic importance for the governance of public finances and for the development of the continent.

At the close of these proceedings, the General Secretariat of AFROSAI expressed its sincere thanks to the partners who invited it to attend this session.

It commended the quality of the exchanges held with the sister regional organisations and with all the technical and financial partners.
